Johnny Football, A&M End Mizzou’s Season

It was an uphill battle for the Tigers going into their season finale against Texas A&M and Johnny Manziel made sure the Aggies didn’t slip up.Mizzou did several things well in the game, like putting up 465 yards of total offense, but it wasn’t enough as the Tigers were hammered 59-29 to finish their season 5-7.

Corbin Berkstresser got the start in place of James Franklin, who missed the game after suffering a concussion the week before. Berkstresser performed well, passing for 276 yards on 20/38 and 2 TD’s.  He also threw an interception in the game.

Kendial Lawrence topped the 1000 yard mark on the season, rushing for 87 yards on 16 carries and 1 TD.  L’Damien Washington was the Tigers’ leading reciever with 4 catches for 98 yards and a 75 yard TD late in the 3rd quarter.

As well as the Tigers appeared to play after halftime, the Aggies first half left them in a hole they couldn’t overcome.  Manziel, who missed sevearl snaps after an apparent knee injury, returned and may have capped a Heisman run with a 32/44 372 yd and 5TD performance (3 passing, 2 rushing).

Missouri finishes their first season in the SEC with a 5-7 record and 2-6 in the SEC.  A season that started with so much promise ends with more questions than answers about the future.  Mizzou football takes the field next for the Spring game in April and the next home game will be August 31, 2013 as the Tigers host the Murray State Racers at Faurot Field.  You’ll hear all the action of that game, as well as complete coverage of the Tigers throughout the year on your home for Mizzou football, ESPN 100.5 and Total Sports Station 103.1 KTGR.
