A walkoff single by Alex Gordon in the tenth inning helped the Kansas City Royals defeat the Atlanta Braves, 4-3, Wednesday night.
Gordon brought home David Lough, who led off the tenth with a single and advanced to second on a Miguel Tejada sacrifice bunt.
The Royals jumped out to a 2-0 lead on a leadoff home run in the first inning by Gordon and an RBI-single by Salvador Perez. Billy Butler singled another home in the third inning. Atlanta did all their scoring in the seventh on as Reed Johnson brought in one and Justin Upton drove in a pair.
The Royals split the series with the Braves and head to Minnesota to start a four-game series with the Minnesota Twins on Thursday. Jeremy Guthrie faces Samuel Deduno at 7:10 PM at Target Field.
