Giants Force Game 7 in NLCS
St. Louis returned to the Bay Area to try and advance to their second consecutive World Series. Ryan Vogelsong had other ideas.San Francisco’s right hander tossed 7 innings and struck out 9 as the Giants forced game 7 of the 2012 NLCS with a 6-1 victory.
St. Louis sent Chris Carpenter to the mound and despite pitching well, his defense let him down. Carpenter pitched 4 innings and allowed just 2 runs, but another 3 unearned runs scored as the Giants grabbed a 5-0 lead after 2 innings.
Carlos Beltran doubled in the sixth inning and Allen Craig singled him home for the Cardinals only run of the game. The Giants added an insurance run in the 8th when former Cardinal Ryan Theriot singled home Brandon Belt for the final tally of the game.
It’s going to be for all the marbles in the National League Tuesday evening as the Giants and Cardinals face each other in Game 7. It’ll be a rematch of game 3 with Kyle Lohse taking on Matt Cain.
