Errors Lead to Royals Loss in Baltimore

After encouraging play throughout the first month and a half, the Royals reverted to their error-filled ways as three miscues helped the Baltimore Orioles to a 5-3 victory.

After J.J. Hardy homered in the second inning for Baltimore, the Orioles capitalized on three fifth-inning errors, one on a single play, to score three runs. Nate McClouth reached on a fielding error, then scored on a double steal, and Manny Machado advanced to third after errors by catcher George Kottaras and shortstop Alcides Escobar. Machado later scored on a wild pitch.

KC got their only runs on a fifth-inning solo homer by Alex Gordon and a two-run shot by Mike Moustakas in the sixth.

The Royals try to avoid the sweep on Thursday with 4-0 Jeremy Guthrie facing Freddy Garcia at 6:05 PM.
