Matt Wieters broke an eighth-inning tie with an RBI-double and the Baltimore Orioles took the opening game from the Kansas City Royals, 4-3, Tuesday night.
Wieters drove in three of the four Baltimore runs, capping a three-run first with his two-run double. The Royals added a third inning RBI-single from Alcides Escobar and an Alex Gordon two-run homer in the seventh to equalize.
After winning four games in a row to get into first place, the Royals have dropped their lost two. Luis Mendoza faces Chris Tillman in the middle game of the series at 6:05.
