It’s clear 2013 is no 2012 for Carl Edwards. Edwards started on the pole and at a track where you can go first to last in the blink of an eye, finished 3rd to maintain his points standing.
in the Aarons 499, Edwards was awarded the pole based on his qualifying times earlier in the week. Qualifying was rained out for the weekend.
On Sunday, the racers dodged the raindrops throughout the afternoon, at one point being red flagged for 3 hours and 36 minutes. They ended up with a green-white-checkered finish after a crash late sent things into overtime, stretching the race to 192 laps, instead of the scheduled 188.
David Regan and David Gilliland finished ahead of Edwards, giving Front Row Motorsports a 1-2 finish in the race. With the 3rd place finish, Edwards remains in second place of the points standings, just 41 points behind leader Jimmie Johnson.
Edwards and the Sprint Cup are off to Darlington, SC for the Bojangles’ Southern 500 next Saturday at 6:45pm.
