Missouri will begin a national search for a new gymnastics coach as Rob Drass has stepped down from the position effective immediately.
Drass spent 14 years at Missouri leading them to 11 straight NCAA regional appearances from 2001-12. The program managed just three team victories in its first season in the SEC.
“I’m very proud of what we were able to accomplish here at Mizzou, and I leave feeling good that the program is in a better place than what it was when we came in,” said Drass in a statement provided by Mizzou Athletics. “While I will miss Mizzou, I feel now is the right time to turn it over to someone else,” Drass added.
Drass at the time of his departure was the third-longest tenured coach at Mizzou behind wrestling’s Brian Smith and baseball’s Tim Jamieson.
