The Mizzou volleyball team, who have done very well at Hearnes Center this season, ended their 2012 campaign on a sour note, losing their last two games of the season to Kentucky and Alabama.
On Wednesday night, Kentucky came in with an RPI at 24, and a sure spot in the NCAA tournament. A win for Mizzou would have given the Tigers a definite advantage when volleyball’s Selection Sunday comes about. Unfortunately, Kentucky proved their superiority, by sweeping Mizzou three sets to none.
Friday night, the Alabama Crimson Tide made their way to Columbia for the Tigers final game of the season. And what a game it was. Whitney Little set a new single season school record for blocks in a season with 139. And Lisa Henning became the first ever Mizzou volleyball player to record back-to-back 500 kill seasons. But after a 5-set match, Alabama showed a little more grit and ended the Tigers volleyball season on a sour note.
