The revenge of Nelson Cruz continued Saturday night as his two-run home run was the difference in the Texas Rangers 4-2 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals.
All four Texas runs came via the long ball, as A.J. Pierzynski had a two-run shot of his own in the second. St. Louis got their runs on an Allen Craig first-inning single and Shane Robinson’s second-inning sacrifice fly.
Martin Perez stifled the Redbirds from there, striking out three in seven innings and allowing just five hits. The Rangers received two scoreless bullpen innings, including Joe Nathan earning a save for the second straight day.
Former Missouri Tiger Nick Tepesch will be tasked at trying to pitch the Rangers to a sweep, while Adam Wainwright will try to salvage the final game Sunday for the Cardinals. You can hear the game beginning at 6:10 PM on ESPN 100.5 and 103.1 KTGR.
