Missouri softball pitcher Chelsea Thomas earned her third career conference player of the year award, earning the season-ending honors in the Southeastern Conference.

Thomas earned the award thanks to a 20-4 regular season record, an SEC-best 1.25 ERA and opposing hitters batting a conference-low .176 against her. The fifth-year senior from Pleasantville, Iowa won player of the year honors in 2011 and 2012 in the Big 12 Conference.

The SEC office also announced Jenna Marston as the scholar athlete of the 2013 season for softball. Marston earned a 3.99 Cumulative GPA in her time at Mizzou and was a Capital One First Team Academic All-American last year.

The Tigers begin play in the SEC Tournament on Thursday against Arkansas, with coverage at 3 PM on ESPNU.
