CC Men & Women Hoops Picked #1

The Columbia College Men & Women’s basketball teams picked to repeat as AMC Champs in ’12-’13.

The Cougars return four starters in 2012-13, including Columbia native Jordan  Dressler’s 15.2 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. He was a second-team All-American in the NAIA last season and a first-team All-AMC performer. Columbia also brings back 6-foot-9 forward Hal Payne, who averaged nearly five rebounds a year ago, along with honorable-mention All-AMC guard Devin Griffin, who dished 2.5 assists per game to go with 10.3 points per contest.

Columbia College Women grabbed the top spot in the American Midwest Conference Women’s Basketball pre-season poll that was released Tuesday afternoon. The Columbia Lady Cougars tallied nine first place votes in the poll voted on by all the league’s coaches. William Woods University was second with one first place nod and conference newcomer Lyon College earned the third spot.
