Berkstresser will not be allowed to participate in any team activities while the investigation continues. Berkstresser has not been formally charged, but his incident falls under the grounds of a possible felony. He would have to sit out until the resolution of the case with a felony charge or he can apply for reinstatement if the charge is reduced to a misdemeanor.

Columbia Police arrested Missouri quarterback Corbin Berkstresser early Tuesday morning for leaving the scene of an accident.

According to the probable cause statement released by CPD, Berkstresser’s car damaged another vehicle in the passenger side and rear, causing more than $1,000 in damage. The damage caused combined with Berkstresser leaving the scene could draw a felony charge. Berkstresser posted $4,500 bond after his arrest Tuesday morning and has been released.

Berkstresser was Missouri’s starter in Spring Football, and is the Tigers’ backup plan if James Franklin has any setbacks returning from his injured shoulder. Missouri coaches have said that they expect Franklin back, but left the door open for the possibility of needing Berkstresser.

Jay suffered the injury on April 19th after hitting the wall at Busch Stadium going after an eventual home run. Shane Robinson, who was sent to AAA after Lance Berkman was activated, has been promoted to fill the void.

The Royals young lefty has a torn ulnar collaterall ligament in his left elbow. Duffy will be seeking a second opinion from elbow specialist Dr.  Lewis Yocum.

Duffy is 23 years old and was off to a (2-2) start with a 3,90 ERA in six starts.

This is the 4th consecutive year the Tigers will host a regional in the first round of the tournament.  Last year, the Tigers lost their second game of the regional, only to rally for 3 straight wins and the chance to advance to the Super Regional round.

The Tigers were selected as the number 9 National Seed in the Softball Tournament.  If they are able to advance to the Super Regional round, the Tigers would face off against fellow Big12/SEC conference foe, Texas A&M.

Joining Mizzou in the Columbia Regional are Illinois State (4 seed), Massachusetts (2 seed), and DePaul (3 seed).  This will mark the 4th consecutive year the Blue Demons have joined Mizzou as a memeber of the Columbia Regional.  The Tigers defeated DePaul in 2009 and 2011 to advance to the Super Regional.

The sale price was a reported $130 million dollars and includes in addition to Stillman, several local business ventures pooling their money into the team. The sale ends a 24-month search for a buyer, following Checketts’ announcement that he wanted to separate his financial interest in the team.

Checketts sells the team at a loss, earning $20 million less than the price he bought the Blues at in 2006. Stillman becomes the franchise’s eighth owner since the team’s inception in 1966.

Bruce Chen pitched around a three-run third striking out five in six and 2/3 innings for his first win of the year. Bryan Pena capped the big opening inning for the Royals with a two-run double. Irving Falu scored on the Escobar game-winning RBI, capping a two-hit day for the rookie.

The Royals head to the south side of Chicago for a three-game weekend set with the White Sox. Felipe Paulino makes his second start back from injury against Gavin Floyd Friday night at 7:10 PM.

The Redbirds had been denied in four previous sweep attempts this year and used a pinch-hit, two-run single by Matt Carpenter to give them the lead in the sixth inning. Four runs in the ninth provided St. Louis the insurance it needed behind four one-run innings by the Cardinals bullpen.

St. Louis improved to 20-11, tied with Los Angeles for the best record in the National League. With an off day Thursday, the Cardinals return home to Busch Stadium for a three-game set with the Atlanta Braves. Friday night’s game will feature the jersey retirement ceremony of former Cardinals manager Tony La Russa.

Jaime Garcia (2-2, 3.76 ERA) matches Mike Minor (2-2, 5.97) in a battle of southpaws in St. Louis Friday, with coverage at 6:10 on the Zimmer Sports Network (93.9 FM, 94.3 FM, AM 900).

Carlos Beltran had a 2 run shot and then added a grand slam to earn all six of the Cardinals RBI on the night.

Jake Westbrook earned his 4th win of the season with a solid seven inning outing.

The Cardinals look for the sweep tonight over Arizona. St, Louis has won 9 of 11 series on the season, but they are 0-4 in sweep opportunities.

Billy Butler was the hero at the K last night. The Royals trailed 4-3 with 2 out in the bottom of the 8th and then he launched a rocket to left that splashed into the fountain.
