The latest Associated Press and USA Today Coaches polls have the Missouri Tigers ranked as the second best team in the nation.

Mizzou takes its first number-two ranking since Week 5 of the 2001-02 season that ended with an Elite Eight Appearance. The ranking did not stick long, however, as the Tigers dropped three straight games to Iowa, Illinois and at DePaul following that week.

Missouri is behind Kentucky, who took the number one ranking in both polls, with Ohio State, Syracuse and Kansas rounding out the top five in the coaches poll. Syracuse took the number-three ranking with Ohio State at four in the AP poll. Mizzou took two first-place votes in the AP poll while the coaches had the Wildcats as a unanimous top selection.

The Tigers play next on Wednesday at Oklahoma State, with coverage on 96.7 KCMQ at 6 PM.
