The burst once again came all in one frame, as the St. Louis Cardinals used four runs in the sixth inning to defeat the Chicago Cubs, 6-1, Thursday night.

After Matt Holliday gave the Cardinals a 2-1 lead with a third-inning single, he kick-started the sixth with a lead-off home run. The Cards loaded the bases, scoring two on an Allen Craig single, and adding another on a base hit by Matt Carpenter.

Lance Lynn became the second Cardinals pitcher to 10 wins, striking out six batters in as many innings. The Cardinals took three of the four games in the series with the Cubs, and now hold a 3.5 game lead over second place Cincinnati.

St. Louis welcomes in the Texas Rangers for a weekend series at Busch Stadium, a rematch of the 2011 World Series. Tyler Lyons faces Derek Holland in the opener, with coverage on ESPN 100.5 and 103.1 KTGR beginning at 6:20 PM.
