The St. Louis Cardinals never lost the lead after the first, but made things interesting with an 8-6 victory over the Miwaukee Brewers Wednesday afternoon.
Allen Craig doubled home a run in the first and homered with Carlos Beltran as part of a six-run second inning to put St. Louis on top. Jake Westbrook failed to go five innings, though, allowing five Brewers runs.
Matt Holliday homered in the top of the ninth, but Logan Schafer brought the lead back to two in the Brewers’ half of the ninth. Edward Mujica worked around the home run to earn a four-out save.
The Cardinals come home to take on the Atlanta Braves for a start of a four-game series Thursday, with KTGR on the coverage at 6:20 PM.
