A four-run ninth inning pushed the Cardinals over the Chicago Cubs with a 10-6 victory to take sole possession of first place in the NL Central on Sunday night.
After Edward Mujica allowed the tying run to score in the eighth, Allen Craig gave the Redbirds the lead back with his go-ahead single. Yadier Molina’s three-run homer put the game on ice later in the frame.
The blown save for Mujica was his second of the season, coming on the heels of him replacing Adam Wainwright in the All-Star Game.
The Cardinals have a one-game lead on Pittsburgh at the All-Star Break, resuming play Friday hosting the Padres.
