Jamie Garcia and Edward Mujica continued their strong starts.  The Cardinal offense did the rest.  St. Louis led 3-0 after a half inning and cruised to a 4-2 win in our nation’s capital Wednesday afternoon.

Matt Carpenter turned a single into a double on the first at bat of the game and Yadier Molina singled home two as the Cardinals raced to the early 3-0 lead.  Matt Holiday would single home Capenter in the in the 8th inning for the 4th run of the game.

Bryce Harper made up for an earlier error, driving in Steven Strasburg for the Nats first run of the game.  Jayson Werth would homer in the 8th to cut the Cardinals lead in half, but it wasn’t enough as Mujica entered in the 9th to pick up his 4th save of the year.

St. Louis next heads home to welcome the Pittsburgh Pirates to Busch Stadium Friday evening at 7:15pm.  Pregame begins at 6:20pm on the Big 900 KFAL
