Cards Power Past Pirates

It got testy for the Pirates with the umpires, but it was the Cardinals offense that did in Pittsburgh.St. Louis hit 3 home runs before Pittsburgh got on the board and the Cardinals beat the Pirates 9-1 Friday night.

St Louis got a home run from Matt Carpenter and two from Carlos Beltran to jump to a 5-0 lead.  After a Pedro Alverez sac fly made it 5-1, St. Louis played small ball to add another 4 runs.

Lance Lynn pitched 7 innings, allowing 1 run and just 2 hits.  He’s now 4-0 on the year.

St Louis and Pittsburgh continue their series Saturday with a game at 3:15pm.  Pregame begins at 2:20pm on the Big 900 KFAL.
