Cards Offensive Struggles Continue

The St. Louis Cardinals outhit the Reds, but missed golden opportunities to strike in a 2-1 loss Monday night.

The Reds led from the opening inning on, after Joey Votto singled home a run in the first inning. Cincinnati added a run in the fourth on a Xavier Paul RBI-groundout.

The Cardinals did not have a runner reach third base until the eighth, when they got back-to-back doubles by Allen Craig to score their lone run. Molina was retired on a rundown between second and third and Pete Kozma grounded out with David Freese at second to end the threat.

Aroldis Chapman pitched a perfect ninth to save the game for Mat Latos, who won for just the second time in his career at Busch Stadium.

Jaime Garcia goes in the middle game Tuesday facing Bronson Arroyo with coverage on the Zimmer Sports Network at 6:20 PM?
