The St. Louis Cardinals won’t have to wonder who their closer is the next two seasons.Cards closer Jason Motte agreed to a 2 year deal with the team Tuesday evening that will keep him in St. Louis through the 202014 season. The deal means the two sides were able to avoid arbitration.
Motte’s deal is worth $12 million over the life of the contract.
The deal with Motte means the Cardinals have only two arbitration cases in 2013. Third baseman David Freese and relief pitcher Marc Rzepczynski are still arbitration eligible.
