Tyler Moore spoiled the mood of the hometown faithful against St. Louis in Sunday’s NLDS opener.

The reserve catcher for the Washington Nationals singled into right field in the top of the 8th to score Michael Morse and Ian Desmond and push the Nationals to a 3-2 victory.

Adam Wainwright pitched brilliantly, striking out 10 in his 5 2/3 innings of action.  He allowed just 1 run during his outing and could be available for a Game 5 Friday.  Mitchell Boggs took the loss.

St. Louis got to 20 game winner Gio Gonzalez in the second inning.  Yadier Molina scored on a Gonzalez wild pitch and John Jay sacrified home Daniel Descalso to give the Cards a 2-1 lead.

St. Louis will look to regroup this afternoon in Game 2 of the series as they send Jamie Garcia to the hill to take on Jordan Zimmerman of the Nationals.  We’ll have pregame coverage beginning at 2:52pm and first pitch at 3:37pm on your home for the Cardinals in October, ESPN 100.5 KTGR.
