The Cards pounded four home runs including two blasts by Carlos Beltran, and a pair of solo shots by Daniel Descalso and Allen Craig. St. Louis battled despite Jaime Garcia leaving the game after two innings with shoulder discomfort. Lance Lynn survived a pair of solo home runs in three innings of work to pick up the win.
The Redbirds surrendered just one run the rest of the way, with Joe Kelly, Mitchell Boggs and Trevor Rosenthal providing scoreless frames.
