Cards Earn Split With Comeback Win

Carlos Beltran tied it in the seventh and Jon Jay gave the Cardinals a lead in the eighth, and St. Louis earned a split with the Chicago Cubs with a 5-4 Wednesday afternoon victory.

The comeback rescued Jake Westbrook from a loss, after he gave up all four runs in five and one-third innings. Seth Maness provided a stellar bullpen effort, inducing two ground-ball double plays in one and two-thirds innings and earned his second MLB win.

The Cardinals earned great offensive days from Carlos Beltran with three hits and two RBIs, and Yadier Molina, who scored the winning run and added two hits.

The Redbirds are off Thursday and return to action at Busch Stadium Friday night, welcoming in the Colorado Rockies. Shelby Miller faces Jon Garland in a game you can hear on the Zimmer Sports Network beginning at 6:20 PM.
