Cards Drop Series to Pirates

In a battle for the NL Central lead, the Pittsburgh Pirates made an emphatic statement against the St. Louis Cardinals.St. Louis managed just 3 hits in the game as they fell 9-0 to Pittsburgh Sunday afternoon.

Matt Holliday, Pete Kozma, and Allen Craig had the three hits for the Cardinals.  The Pirates got 2 home runs from Russell Martin and one from both Garrett Jones and Jose Tabata to score most of their runs.

Jeff Locke got the win for Pittsburgh while Shelby Miller fell to 3-2 on the year with the loss.

St. Louis welcomes the Reds to Busch Stadium for a 3 game series beginning Monday.  The first game of the series begins at 7:15pm with pregame at 6:20pm on your home for the St. Louis Cardinals, ESPN 100.5 and 103.1 KTGR.
