The St. Louis Cardinals allowed four runs in the eighth inning of their 6-2 loss to the Colorado Rockies.
Todd Helton, who announced before the game he was retiring at the end of the year, keyed the rally by singling in front of Willin Rosario, who drove in the run that gave Colorado the lead.
St. Louis had tied the game in the top of the frame on a Matt Carpenter single, but the four scored by the Rockies in the eighth left an insurmountable deficit.
The Cardinals stayed tied with the Pirates, who came one out away from being no-hit by the Padres and lost 2-0.
St. Louis and Colorado continue their four-game series Tuesday with Joe Kelly facing Juan Nicasio at 6:45 on KTGR.
