Miguel Cabrera went 0-for-2, but earned the first AL Triple Crown since 1967 as the Detroit Tigers defeated the Kansas City Royals, 1-0.
Carl Yastrzemski last completed the feat for the Boston Red Sox, and Cabrera finished the season with a .330 batting average, 44 home runs and 139 RBIs. Austin Jackson’s fifth-inning double provided the only run for Detroit.
The Royals finished in third place at 72-90, their highest finish since 2003.
