Billy Butler reached a career milestone and helped the Kansas City Royals defeat the Cleveland Indians Saturday evening.
Butler drove in his 100th RBI of the season in the first inning to give the Royals an early 2-0 lead. He becomes the first Royal to reach the century mark for RBI’s in a season since Carlos Beltran did it in 2003.
KC added RBI’s from Alcides Escobar in the first and Eric Hosmer, Irving Falu, and Brayan Pena in the 5th for their 5 runs. They’d go on to win 5-3 and take the series from the Indians.
Rookie Will Smith picked up his 6th win of the season, pitching 7 strong innings and striking out 5. Kelvin Herrera got his second save of the season.
KC and the Indians wrap up their series this afternoon with a 1:10pm start at Kauffman Stadium.
