Blues Lose in OT, Trail 3-2 in Series

Posted by bfreeman on May 9, 2013

After Wednesday night, the Blues are on the brink of elimination by the Kings again.  For the second time in the series, the game went to overtime, but this time the Blues dropped Game 5 3-2 in St. Louis.

Alexander Steen, the game 1 hero, got things started when he tied the game 1-1 in the second period.  St. Louis responded again to tie the game at 2 on a goal by Alex Pietrangelo.  Jeff Carter had both regulation goals for the Kings.

Looking to go up 3-2, the Blues headed to overtime for the second time in the series, but a Slava Voynov goal at the 12 minute mark of OT gave the Kings the 3-2 win to take the series lead.

The Blues will have to win in LA Friday to avoid being eliminated by the Kings for a second straight year.  Game 6 is 9pm Friday at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
