For the second straight year, the St. Louis Blues had their season end at the hands of the Los Angeles Kings, falling in Game Six, 2-1, Friday night.
The Kings won despite managing just 16 shots, but Dustin Penner’s goal with 0.2 seconds remaining in the second period provided the separation LA needed to advance. The Blues scored their only goal with a tying tally at 4:39 into the second period by Chris Porter.
The Blues had their season end last year in a four-game series, but had a 2-0 series lead after a pair of wins in St. Louis. The Blues failed to taste victory after that point.
The Kings move on to the Western Conference semifinals and will take on the winner of the Anaheim Ducks and Detroit Red Wings’ Game Seven matchup Sunday night.
