The Royals lost the game while the Blue Jays lost a lot more in the process.Toronto scored in each of the first three innings and broke the game open in the 6th in Kansas City, beating the Royals 8-4 Friday night.
Kansas City scored 3 runs in the bottom of the first to take a 3-2 lead into the second frame, but it asn’t meant to be as the Jays doulbed up the Royals to snap their 3-game win streak.
Luis Mendoza gave up 7 earned runs in 5 2/3 innings of work, taking the loss. J. A. Happ got the win for the Jays, improving to 2-0.
The win was costly for the Blue Jays as All-Star shortstop Jose Reyes severely sprained his ankle in the top of the 6th. After the game, the team announced he will miss 1-3 months of the season.
KC and Toronto continue their series tomorrow evening at Kauffman with first pitch coming at 6:10pm. R.A. Dickey of the Jays faces KC ace James Shields.
