His hit wasn’t the most important, but it certainly was the biggest as Matt “Big City” Adams helped give the Cardinals a 5-1 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers Wednesday night.
Adams hit a two-run homer after the Cards took the lead on a sacrifice fly and a two-base error on a steal attempt. Marco Estrada took a no-hitter two outs into the sixth inning, the second straight day a Brewers pitcher accomplished that feat, but ended in a no decision and a Milwaukee defeat.
Lance Lynn provided a bounce-back effort for the Cardinals, striking out 10 and working around an unearned run. St. Louis stayed one game in front of the Pittsburgh Pirates in the NL Central race.
The Redbirds and Brewers meet for the final game of their three-game series on Thursday, with coverage on KTGR at 6:20 PM.
