Beckham’s Homer Leads Sox Past Royals

Gordon Beckham broke a 2-2 tie in the eighth with a solo home run which helped the Chicago White Sox take their opener with the Kansas City Royals, 4-2, Monday night.

Kansas City scored its runs off Chris Sale on solo home runs by Jeff Francoeur and Billy Butler, but Sale outlasted KC starter Luis Mendoza for the victory.

Kevin Youkillis doubled home an insurance run later in the eighth inning for more insurance.

The White Sox and Royals meet in game two Tuesday night with Bruce Chen opposing Jake Peavy.
