Missouri scored runs in each of the first four innings and held on to defeat Alabama to even the three-game series with a 7-3 victory Saturday afternoon.
Mizzou started the day off right with an RBI-single from Dane Opel, but Alabama equalized right away with a solo home run by Georgie Salem to make it 1-1 after the opening frame. The Tigers added a home run from Scott Sommerfeld to take the lead, and RBI-singles by Keaton Steele and Brannon Champagne in the third and fourth made it 4-1. The stretch capped six straight innings with a run for Mizzou, dating back to the eighth inning of Friday night’s affair.
Mikey White homered in the fifth and drove in another with a single in the sixth to conclude the scoring for Alabama. Missouri plated an insurance run in the seventh on a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch, and two more in the ninth on an RBI-single by Steele and a Dylan Kelly sacrifice fly..
The series’ deciding game takes place Sunday afternoon, with coverage on KTGR starting at 12:15 PM from Tuscaloosa.
